Pip the Caterpillar Public restroom adventure

A children's story explaining to them the reasons why they may encounter different sexes in the public bathroom and how they should react if something shady is about to happen.
Once upon a time, there was a curious little caterpillar named Pip. Pip was at the park with his mom, chomping on some delicious leaves, when his tummy rumbled. "Uh oh, Mom," Pip said, "I gotta go potty!" His mom smiled. "No worries, Pip. Let's find the bathroom." They reached the building, and Pip saw two doors: one with a picture of a boy and another with a picture of a girl. "Why are there two doors, Mom?" Pip asked. "That's a great question!" Mom explained. "These bathrooms are for everyone who needs to use them. Some people, like boys, have different parts than girls, and these doors help everyone feel comfortable using the bathroom." Pip's eyes widened. "So even though I'm a boy, could a girl be in the other bathroom?" "Exactly!" Mom said. "Just like you might see someone older or younger than you using the bathroom. It's all okay!" They entered the bathroom, and Pip used a stall. But as he finished, he heard a muffled sniffle coming from the stall next to him. Remembering what his mom had taught him about asking for help if he felt unsafe, Pip knocked gently on the stall door. "Hi, is everything okay?" he asked politely. A small voice answered, "I'm lost! I can't find my mommy." Pip's worry melted. This wasn't scary, just someone who needed help. "Don't worry," Pip said. "I'll find your mommy for you! What does she look like?" Pip, being a helpful caterpillar, found the lost girl's mom outside the bathroom. The mom was so relieved and thankful! But what if the sniffling had sounded different? What if Pip felt scared or uncomfortable? "Mom," Pip asked later, "what if something weird happens in the bathroom?" Mom knelt down and looked him in the eye. "That's a very important question, Pip. If someone makes you feel scared or uncomfortable in the bathroom, remember this: Always trust your gut. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. The most important thing is to get help." "How do I do that?" Pip asked. "Here's the plan," Mom said. "You can yell 'Help!' or 'Someone come here!' You can also find a grownup you trust, like a park ranger or another mom, and tell them what's happening. And of course, you can always tell me right away." Pip felt much better. He knew what to do if something strange happened. "Thanks, Mom!" he chirped. "Now, let's go find some more yummy leaves!" Remember, Pip, bathrooms are for everyone who needs to go. But if you ever feel scared, don't be afraid to ask for help! There are always people who care about you and want to keep you safe.
